Optimization of Polycaprolactone Scaffold Fabrication for Tissue Engineered “Blood Vessel Mimics”

Through this SURP project, students used electrospinning techniques to optimize the production of a novel polymer scaffold used in tissue-engineered “blood vessel mimics” (BVMs). Each student investigated a separate solvent system to determine which would create the most reproducible and desirable results with the novel polymer. Results demonstrated that both scaffold fabrication procedures produced successful scaffolds for use in BVMs.
