The CAR (Confront, Address, Replace) Strategy

Is it time for Confronting, Addressing, & Replacing (CARing) exclusionary terminologies in engineering? The CAR (confront, address, replace) Strategy is a new pedagogy aiming to drive out iniquitous terminologies (e.g., “master-slave”) in STEM.

Resilient Critical Infrastructures

For this research project we focused on resiliency and security in power systems. In researching we observed that future power systems will have increased distribution systems in contrast to centralized power plants. We researched many current areas of focus in literature, from smart meter privacy to energy recovery after attack, and eventually focused in on the threat of False Data Injection Attacks (FDIAs). In this work we define and model a new approach to improve bad data detection to catch FDIAs.
