Evaluation of Cost-effective Pavement Deformation Detection Technologies using Mobile LiDAR

Rutting on road surfaces can pose a serious risk of hydroplaning to drivers. The current methods of identifying rutting are time-consuming, expensive, and dangerous. By using mobile LiDAR equipment attached to a vehicle the road surface can be quickly scanned which saves time, labor, does not requires roads to be closed, and does not put data-collectors in possibly dangerous situations.

Drone Applications in Construction

In this project, we explored the incorporation of UAVs in the construction industry. In this investigation we found two uses that can improve safety and optimize construction work. Our analysis was twofold: using drones to identify and classify pavement marking defects and optimizing the concrete delivery path through UAV data and simulation modeling.
